‘South Beach’ Air Jordan 8s Release This October

Following LeBron James’ decision to leave Cleveland for Miami in July 2010, Nike welcomed the King to Miami with a special make-up of the Nike LeBron 8 dubbed “South Beach.” The shoe featured an eye-catching teal and pink scheme inspired by Miami Vice and the city’s Art Deco architecture, instantly making it a must-have among sneaker enthusiasts.

Michael Jordan never suited up for the Heat, but as a tribute to his contributions to the game, the franchise strangely retired his number 23 jersey in 2003. Considering the random nature of Jordan Brand’s storytelling as of late, perhaps that event is the inspiration behind this upcoming “South Beach” colorway of the Air Jordan 8.

The retro arrives sporting a white leather upper, accented by teal and pink on the strap buckle and pattern-printed areas along the tongue, midsole and outsole. There’s also a bit of orange spotted on the toe and tongue patch. Each pair comes with three sets of laces.

Expect the “South Beach” Jordan 8 to release this Oct. 13 for $190 at Jordan retailers.
